I really appreciate project shrink because you give project managers like myself practical information that can be used right away for development. I really like the use of the video medium and the short duration. Thank you for adding value to Project Management. Cynde McCoy, Project Manager, DCOM Corporation
Good leaders combine their intelligence with an ability to minimise effort – becoming productively lazy. Focusing on the important things thereby giving time to their team (and projects) where it matters most.
Thanks Art and Bas. Good podcast. I am a strong supporter of Art’s view that today’s job description is tightly tied to your role in project team, which can change from project to project. The Project Manager gets to carry lessons from past projects to future ones and grow in the process. Experience is the key to gaining respect as a project leader. Academic skills create a foundational basis for running a project, but those squishy human elements in a project create the major variable factors in a project. The best project managers I have worked with were decisive and results oriented, but were very empathetic to the needs of individuals. They were always finding ways of making progress while keeping the team engaged and motivated. Their ability to deliver projects on time, on specification and keeping the individuals happy earned them respect from executives and team members.
